PHL Embassy in Canberra participates in the Open Day dedicated to the reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Ms. Mary Stephannie D. Lasmarias, daughter of Tsg. Ricardo C. Lasmarias PAF, Office of the Defense and Armed Forces Attache (ODAFA) reading Articles 22-26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the Filipino language which was video recorded by the Slovenian Embassy.
13 September 2017 CANBERRA – The Philippine Embassy in Canberra participated in the Open Day dedicated to the reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on September 06 at the Slovenian Embassy. Ms. Mary Stephannie D. Lasmarias, daughter of Tsg. Ricardo C. Lasmarias PAF, Office of the Defense and Armed Forces Attache (ODAFA) represented the Philippines and read Articles 22-26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the Filipino language.
The event was initiated by Slovenian Ambassador H.E. Helena Drnovšek Zorko as part of its participation in the Berlin International Literature Festival. Each year during the festival, a worldwide reading is organized of a text which has special relevance to the times we live in. This year, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was chosen.
It was a whole day event where diplomats, Australian citizens and interested individuals were invited to read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in their respective languages. Participants were also encouraged to make comments, read a poem or play a song to express their feelings or to make a statement. The event was held at the Residence of the Slovenian Embassy in Canberra.
