5 Pinoy Chorale Groups Garner Honors at the PENABUR International Choir Festival 2017 Jakarta

14 September 2017 JAKARTA – Five Philippine home-grown choir groups made it to the PENABUR International Choir Festival 2017 Jakarta, Indonesia from September 05 to 09. The groups were Gloria Patria Singers (Quezon City); Manresa Grade School Glee Club and Marensa High School Glee Club (Parañaque City); Tarlac National High School-Special Program in the Arts-Music Glee Club (Tarlac); and Budjong Chorale Ensemble of Caraga State University (Butuan City).
The participants from the Philippines garnered the following awards:
- Gold Medal for Primary Category - Manresa Grade School Glee Club
- Silver Medal for Folklore - Manresa Grade School Glee Club
- Silver Medal for Junior High School Choir Category - Manresa High School Glee Club
- Silver Medal for Junior High School Choir Category - Tarlac National High School SPA Music Glee Club
- Silver Medalist in Folklore Category - Budjong Chorale Ensemble
- Silver Medalist in Musica Sacra Category - Budjong Chorale Ensemble
There were 130 contestants from Malaysia, Philippines and throughout Indonesia that participated in the festival.
PENABUR International Choir Festival 2017 is organized by Badan Pendidikan Kristen (BPK) (Christian Education Agency), PENABUR Jakarta. The aims of the Festival were to let the schools participate and develop Indonesian arts and culture and shaping the characters of the nation’s young generation. The festival invited choir groups throughout Indonesia and from other countries.
