DOLE Secretary Meets with FilCom Leaders in Abu Dhabi

20 September 2017 ABU DHABI - DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III, together with Ambassador Constancio R. Vingno, Jr., DOLE Undersecretary Ciriaco Lagunzad, OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac, and Embassy / POLO-OWWA officials met with Filipino Community leaders from various organizations in Abu Dhabi on the evening of September 13 at the Dusit Thani Hotel.

Secretary Bello announced the signing of the MOU on Labour Cooperation and expressed hopes that the same will usher changes that will bring solutions to human trafficking and illegal recruitment problems of Filipinos who come to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to look for employment opportunities.

Other issues discussed were the status of implementation of iDOLE cards; the status of the bill creating the OFW Bank; the efforts aimed at addressing human trafficking and illegal recruitment, and other government programs aimed at helping the overseas Filipino workers. END
