PHL Consulate General Attends Asian Culture Day Celebration in Las Vegas, NV

20 September 2017 LOS ANGELES – Consul Rea G. Oreta attended the first Asian Culture Day in partnership with the City of Las Vegas and the State of Nevada held at the Asian Center in Las Vegas on September 15.
The Asian Culture Day was a kick-off ceremony of the Annual Asian Day to be celebrated every 18th of May. The Annual Asian Day was established by Senate Bill 175 which designates every 18th of May as Asian Day in the State of Nevada. The bill was introduced and authored by State Senator Scott Hammond and signed into law by Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval early this year.
The Asian Culture Day was attended by State elected officials with keynote speakers including Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, Nevada State Treasurer Dan Schwartz, Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tempore Loise Tarkanian and Nevada State Senator Scott Hammond. Also in attendance were officials from the Consulates General of Afghanistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myranmar, Philippines and South Korea. END.
