PH Economic Opportunities Promoted at ASEAN Business Forum in The Hague

22 September 2017 THE HAGUE - The five ASEAN member-countries with residence in The Hague, namely, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam successfully conducted the ASEAN Business Forum on September 14 at the VNO-NCW-MKB-Nederland (Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers) which was very well attended by Dutch businessmen.
Senior trade experts from these countries, with the Philippines represented by its Brussels-based Special Trade Representative Jose Antonio S. Buencamino, each gave 15-minute powerpoint presentations on the various business opportunities, potentials and challenges in the region to an audience of 100 businessmen from different Dutch industry sectors.
Secretary-General, Mr. Maarten Camps of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Mr. Hans de Boer, President of VNO-NCW (the biggest organization of Dutch employers and industries) opened the Forum with remarks that highlighted the region’s impressive economic growth and looked towards more sustained economic exchanges with ASEAN in the next 50 years.
The Forum was another activity of the ASEAN Committee in The Hague (ACTH) in its continuing commemoration of ASEAN@50. The Philippine Embassy in The Hague’s economic and cultural diplomacy agendas were also pursued at this event where Philippine-brand coffee (Gourmet Farms) was freely served to all guests and participants, who also received tourism promotional materials (business folders and luggage tags) courtesy of the Tourism Promotions Board - Department of Tourism and USB flash disks on PH business and investment opportunities and major industry profiles prepared by the Board of Investments – Department of Trade and Industry.
