25 September 2017 JAKARTA – Philippine Ambassador to Jakarta Maria Lumen B. Isleta welcomed Department of Transport Assistant Secretary for Maritime, Mr. Fernando Juan Perez; Department of Foreign Affairs, ASEAN Community Division Director Porfirio Mayo, Jr.; and representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) to Jakarta, as they formed the Philippine delegation attending the 4th Joint Task Force Meeting for Sea Connectivity of the Bitung-Davao-General Santos Route held on September 14 at the Swiss-Belhotel, Jakarta.
On the Indonesia side, Dr. Raldi Hendro Koestoer, Senior Adviser to the Minister for Economic Relation, Human and Cultural Development, and Assistant Deputy Minister for Regional and Sub-Regional Economic Cooperation from the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ms. Netty Muharni, headed the delegation. In his opening statement, Dr. Raldy said that in order to help the Roll-On-Roll-Off (RORO) route become successful, both sides should facilitate business meetings, with the goal of higher income and prosperity for people in Sulawesi and Davao.
Both countries continue to be committed to finding solutions to the challenges faced in making the Bitung-Davao-General Santos route prosper. END
