26 September 2017 Bordeaux, France - Following his successful 2016 European tour, Dr. Sunico arrived again in the continent for another series of concerts with the first one in the wine region of France, Bordeaux on September 19.

The “Music and Wine Evening” was hosted by Philippine Honorary Consul Mr. Edouard Miailhe and his wife Sevrine at their wine estate Château Siran in Margaux. The concert was attended by 105 guests who included the Mayor of Labard, Mr. Matthie Fontmarty, First Secretary/Consul Mrs. Christina Rola McKernan from the Philippine Embassy in Paris, prominent personalities and artists from the Bordeaux cultural scene, neighbouring chateau owners, contacts in the wine industry, and other music lovers of the Médoc group. Also present were members of the diplomatic circle of Bordeaux, particularly the Honorary Consuls of Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Cyprus Guinea, Luxembourg, Panama and Switzerland.

Dr. Sunico’s programme at Siran was a beautiful combination of classical compositions from European greats Liszt, Debussy, Chopin, Piazzolla, Rachmaninoff with some “jazz interludes” of Brubeck. Also performed was Dr. Sunico’s own arrangement of Filipino composer George Canseco’s “Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan”. A reception was held right after the concert.

Dr. Sunico held a noontime concert on September 20, in Station Ausone of Mollat at the Bordeaux City Center. Founded in 1896, Mollat is the second oldest bookstore in the whole of France, the first independent bookstore, and one of the most famous and most important cultural checkpoints in Bordeaux. Station Ausone is its new venue for informal encounter with the patrons of the bookstores.

Similar to the last year’s events, the 2017 concert series has been organized in cooperation with the Philippine National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and includes performances in Paris, Milan and The Hague. END
