PH Defends Title in 4th World Junior Girls Golf Championship

27 September 2017 OTTAWA - The Opening Ceremony of the 4th World Junior Girls Golf Championship took place at the Marshes Golf Club in west Ottawa. The Philippine Team is led by Carlos Coscolluele, Jr, President of the National Golf Association of the Philippines. The 3-member Philippine Team will be competing against 18 other countries and is composed of Harmie Nicole Constantino (ranked No. 305 by the World Golf Amateur Rankings), Junia Louise Gabasa and Kristine Torralba. Deputy Chief of Mission Francisco Noel Fernandez attended the program to herald the start of the competition.

In 2016, the Philippine Team captured the title by a nine-stroke margin, with the gold medal for individual achievement given to its Yuka Saso, who was the lone player to finish the tournament under par. It was the debut of the Philippine Team in this competition last year. The teams from the Republic of Korea and USA finished second and third, respectively. END
