OSAKA

22 November 2013 – The Philippine Consulate General in Osaka participated in the annual Sports Fest (Undokai) of the Philippine Community Coordinating Council (PCCC), an umbrella organization of Filipino community groups in the Kansai region covering the prefectures of Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Nara, Shiga, Mie, and Wakayama, held on  October 14 at the Nagai Koen, Osaka City.

The Sports Fest is held yearly to gather various Filipino community organizations in the Kansai region in a competitive but fun event to promote health awareness, foster better relations among members of Filipino communities and their family and strengthen the network of Filipino organizations in Japan. 

This year, there were 15 organizations which joined the activity, namely, Amagasaki Filipino Community, Couples for Christ-Kobe, Filipiniana Community, Kakogawa Filipino Community, Kansai Nioi Tomo No Kai, Kawachi Kayumanggi Dance Group, Knights of Rizal-Kansai Chapter, Kyoto Pag-asa Filipino Community, Mikuni Filipino Christian Community, New Sama-Sama Community, Okayama Kurashiki Pilipino Circle, Philippine Dance Company, Samahan sa Kitano International Community, San Lorenzo Ruiz Fil-Jap Community, and Yagi Filipino Community (South). 

For the first time in many years, the Consulate General joined the sports fest with its own team and also won one major sport event, the Tug o’ War. 

Participants competed in six (6) sport events such as Baton Relay, Maria Went to Town, Follow the Path, and Sack Race. A raffle draw was also held which made the event more festive. END
