PHL Embassy in Vientiane Conducts Seminar on Cerebral Palsy
Dr. Phirawan Changsirivathanathamrong and Dr. Achara Changsiri discuss the treatment, causes and prevention of cerebral palsy as well as on how to provide support to people with this condition.
02 October 2017 VIENTIANE - The Philippine Embassy in Vientiane, Lao PDR, in partnership with Alliance International Medical Centre (AIMC), conducted a Seminar on Cerebral Palsy on September 22 to coincide with the 14th Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection (CPAP) Week at the Embassy premises. A total of 32 members from the Filipino community attended the event.
The resource persons, Dr. Phirawan Changsirivathanathamrong and Dr. Achara Changsiri discussed that Cerebral Palsy is a condition where the damage to the brain results in loss of muscle control and movement. The doctors informed the audience on the treatment, causes and prevention of cerebral palsy. They also talked about how to deal with persons with this condition like letting them function, even differently, letting them know that their family will take care of them, and also that their families should also talk to them, hear them and respect them. The doctors also informed the participants that the family of the patient should also find ways for them to stay fit, have friends and have fun.
