PHL Embassy in Wellington Brings Consular Services Closer to Filipinos in Samoa
The Philippine Embassy Mobile Consular Team conducts its consular services outreach mission on 7-8 September 2017 in Apia, Samoa.
02 October 2017 - As the Philippine Embassy continues to reach out to the Filipino communities in New Zealand and in the Pacific countries under its jurisdiction, Philippine Ambassador Jesus S. Domingo, non-resident Ambassador of the Philippines to Samoa, led the Philippine Embassy mobile consular team composed of Vice Consul Glenn Joseph Obach and Ms. Ma. Katrina Ciara Garcia in conducting a consular services outreach mission in Apia on September 07 to 08 for the benefit of the Filipinos in Samoa.
The Filipino community in Samoa, now estimated at around 200, expressed their great appreciation for this undertaking as it provided them access to the Philippine Embassy’s services without travelling to New Zealand. Ambassador Domingo, through the Philippine Embassy mobile consular team, reiterated deep appreciation to the Pilipino in Samoa Organization (PISO), headed by its president Ms. Bel Guinto and its vice president Ms. Melody Arevalo, for its vital support and exemplary cooperation that contributed to the successful consular outreach mission in Samoa.
On September 07, a Filipino community event was hosted by the PISO at Kusina Restaurant in Apia, Samoa. The fellowship event was an opportunity for the Filipino community to engage in a lively dialogue and exchange of views with Ambassador Domingo and the Philippine Embassy mobile consular team. Ambassador Domingo also shared with the PISO the Embassy’s Universal Diplomacy approach, encouraged them to get more involved in the social, cultural and humanitarian activities in Samoa and to continue to support the Philippine government’s various programs. The PISO members had a generally positive view of developments in the Philippines and the new administration. END
