Passport applicants avail of the services provided by the mobile consular team from the Philippine Embassy in Wellington during its outreach mission in Suva, Fiji on 11-12 September 2017.
02 October 2017 - A mobile consular team of the Philippine Embassy in Wellington successfully rendered a two-day consular services outreach mission in Suva, Fiji on September 11 to 12. The outreach processed consular transactions comprising passport renewals/applications, civil registration (reports of births and marriages) and Philippine citizenship retention/re-acquisition application and oath-taking. The mission also administered overseas voting (OV) registration.
The Filipino community members from all over Fiji, currently numbering around 500, greatly appreciated this undertaking as it provided them access to the Philippine Embassy’s services without travelling to New Zealand. The outreach was also an opportunity for the Embassy to strengthen its network with the Filipino community in Fiji.
His Excellency Jesus S. Domingo, non-resident Ambassador of the Philippines to Fiji, and the Philippine Embassy mobile consular team composed of Vice Consul Glenn Joseph Obach, Ms. Mary Bel Garcia and Ms. Ma. Katrina Ciara Garcia, reiterated deep appreciation to the Philippine Honorary Consul General in Fiji Dr. Virgilio de Asa and the Filipino Association in Fiji (FAF) headed by its President Mr. Primo Relos, Jr. for their vital support and exemplary cooperation that contributed to a successful consular outreach mission in Fiji.
On 12 September 2017, a Filipino community event was hosted by the FAF at The Great Wok of China Restaurant in Suva, Fiji. During this occasion, Ambassador Domingo administered the oath of office of FAF’s newly elected officers. The fellowship event was an opportunity for the Filipino community to engage in a lively dialogue and exchange of views with Ambassador Domingo and the Philippine Embassy mobile consular team. Ambassador Domingo also shared with the FAF the Embassy’s Universal Diplomacy approach, encouraged them to get more involved in the social, cultural and humanitarian activities in Fiji and to continue to support the Philippine government’s various programs. The Filipino community in Fiji had a generally positive view of developments in the Philippines and the new administration. END
