10 October 2017 LISBON – The ASEAN Committee Lisbon Portugal (ACLP) composed of 3 ASEAN resident missions in Lisbon, namely Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, hosted a reception celebrating ASEAN’s 50th Anniversary at Museu do Oriente on September 27.

Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria, the current Chair of the ACLP, delivered a message focused on inviting Portugal to explore the many diverse economic opportunities in ASEAN.

“ASEAN would like to engage Portugal to be our partners in pursuit of a shared security and prosperity for our peoples and the world,” said Ambassador Feria during her remarks. She highlighted the potential that the ASEAN market may offer to Portuguese businesses by looking at ASEAN’s robust market, its highly skilled and educated labor force, the presence of multinational companies and its commitment in providing an excellent investment climate for business.

Ambassador Feria also highlighted that the presence of Portuguese businesses in the region could boost their brand awareness and it would be an opportunity to present in the growing and dynamic ASEAN market.

All three ASEAN embassies served dishes from their respective countries. ASEAN’s 50th anniversary reception was attended by more than 150 guests from the Diplomatic Corps, Portuguese Government, Business Sector and the Academe.  END
