10 October 2017 MILAN – The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) promoted its Station Consumer Activation Project which aims to invite Italians to come to the Philippines and experience everything that its 7,107 islands has to offer at Milan's Cadorna Railway Station on September 25 to 30.

Following the takeovers of Waterloo and Kings Cross stations in London and Fiumicino  Airport Railway Station in Rome, the DOT London office and its Italian partner Interface Tourism Italy took the project to the busy commuter train station of Cadorna in central Milan.

Cadorna Station was bedecked with posters and floor stickers emblazoned with "It's More Fun in the Philippines" slogan and flashed images of the country's natural wonders and more on the video screens including one outside on the rooftop of the train station in view of local road and pedestrian traffic around the station.

Italians going through the station were encouraged to pose for photos using special frames that are perfect for posting on social media. They were also treated to Filipino food catered by the award winning Filipino chef Marvin Braceros.

Consul General Marichu Mauro cut the ceremonial ribbon of the booth along with Mr. Angelito Mendoza of DOT London. Also present at the opening were Mr. Teck Hui Wong, General Manager Italy of Singapore Airlines and Mr. Alessandro Simonetti of Asian Explorer. Singapore Airlines and Asian Explorer are the two main supporters of the Cadorna Station Domination Project.

"I am very pleased with the DOT's efforts to push Italian tourism  in the Philippines especially here in Milan. There has been a lot of interest and a significant rise in request for visas from Italians to visit the Philippines.  I hope we continue our efforts to promote the Philippines here in Italy," Consul General Mauro said. The promotion activity is also very timely to the celebration of 70 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Italy this year. END
