25 September 2017 SEOUL The Philippine Embassy in Seoul, in pursuit of its mandate to promote Philippine cuisine and tourism, participated in some of the biggest cultural fairs in South Korea this month. The Embassy took part in the Seoul Friendship Fair, an annual international charity event organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government on September 02-03.

This year’s Seoul Friendship Fair took place in the heart of downtown Seoul and attracted the participation of over 60 foreign missions. As in previous years, the Embassy organized two booths to promote Philippine tourism and cuisine at the World Tourism Exhibition and the World Food Exhibition, respectively.

At the Philippine booth for the World Food Exhibition, the Embassy’s Cultural Section prepared favourite Filipino dishes such as adobo, afritada, and pancit. The Embassy also showcased the world-renowned San Miguel beer and popular Philippine fruits such as carabao mangoes and bananas.

Meanwhile, at the Philippine booth at the World Tourism Exhibition, the Philippine Department of Tourism Seoul displayed and distributed tourism promotional materials to the Korean public and expatriate residents of Seoul.

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alan Peter Cayetano, who was on an official trip to the country early this month, dropped by the Philippine booths at the Seoul Friendship Fair.

The following week, the Embassy participated again in another food promotion event, the 2nd Seongbuk World Beer Festival, where it showcased San Miguel beer and Philippine-style pork barbecue. It was the first time for the Embassy to participate in the festival, which also featured beers from some 15 countries including China, France, Belgium, Czech Republic, and Germany.

The 2nd Seongbuk World Beer Festival took place at the Seongbukcheon Fountain Square on 9 September 2017 and was attended by thousands of Korean and foreign guests who were treated to a full day of good beer and street performances. The event was organized by the Seongbuk District Government.

The Embassy’s participation in the Seoul Friendship Fair and Seongbuk World Beer Festival was supported by its traditional Fair partners, Del Monte Fresh (Korea) and San Mi Korea. END
