OBMM delegates with DTI and Philippine Embassy officials, Cathrine Jahnsen of VIRKE, PTIC representative Mary Borromeo-Hedfors, and Chargé d'Affaires Maria Elena Algabre
12 October 2017 OSLO – Fresh from their visit to Sweden, Filipino SMEs continue to explore market opportunities in the Nordic region, this time, with company briefings and meetings with potential buyers, trading partners, and importers in Oslo, Norway on October 03-04.
During the brief but productive two days in Oslo, selected SMEs learned about Norway’s market requirements and trends, as well as consumer behavior, through engagements with VIRKE, the Enterprise Federation of Norway, major market player NorgesGruppen, and Asian Food Import AS, an importer and distributor of food and related products from Asia. They also visited local grocery stores to get insights on the labeling and packaging of imported products from Southeast Asia.
The delegation of Filipino SMEs are participants in the Outbound Business Matching Mission (OBMM) of the Department of Trade and Industry-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB). With the assistance and support of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Stockholm and the Philippine Embassy to the Nordic region based in Oslo, the delegation was able to get an overview of the Norwegian food market, and will proceed to Copenhagen, Denmark (October 04-06) after their visit in Oslo.
