12 October 2017 YANGON - The Philippine Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar participated in the Diplomatic School in Yangon (DSY) Fun Fair 2017 at the DSY Open Auditorium held on October 03.
The Philippine booth showcased items from everyday Philippine life such as the Philippine Jeepney of which a photo booth was created, and the classic "dirty ice cream" cart where free ice cream was served to the children at the fair. To promote Philippine products, the Philippine Embassy also invited Philippine companies such as Myanmar Liwayway Food Industries, Universal Robina Co., and United Pharmaceuticals Co. to form part of the Philippine booth.
The DSY Fun Fair is an annual event where enterprising parents of the schoolchildren put up booths to sell a wide array of products. The proceeds of the said fair are then donated to a chosen charity. Usually held before the Thadingyut Festival, it is the school’s way of encouraging the students to pay homage to their parents and elders, and give back their blessings in celebration of the end of Buddhist lent. The fair was attended by more than 300 students with their guardians or parents. END
