PARIS1

20 October 2017 PARIS – Five award-winning short animated films from the Philippines are featured at the Fête du cinema d’animation, a month-long celebration of animation and animated film, on October 21, 3:30 PM, at the Musée Guimet in Paris, France.

Entitled Animahenasyon Philippines, the event will feature Milkyboy by Arnold Arre, Josephine by Avid Liongoren, Marianing by Nikolo Salazar, Hinagunoy sa Goryon by Karl Derick Sia and Building Too by BP Valenzuela.

All five short animated films have won awards at Animahenasyon, the Philippines’ animated film festival. Each represents different facets of Filipino culture through the the travails of a modern-day creative in Milkyboy, the cathartic journey of a woman who buries her own heart in Josephine, a husband avenging his wife from aswangs in Marianing, the story of love and loss in the life of a tree sparrow in Hinagunoy sa Goryon and a modern urban love story in Building Too.

The Philippines’ maiden participation at the festival was made possible through the efforts of the Philippine Embassy in Paris which met with the French Animated Film Association (AFCA), the official organizer of the festival, back in October 2016.

AFCA chose five from among twelve short animated films submitted by the Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI) to the Philippine Embassy. The films were chosen both for their artistic and technical merit and storyboard.
