20 October 2017 NEW YORK – The world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers once again entertained New York and New Jersey audiences with their award-winning brand of choral music in a series of performances this month.
Performing a repertoire of sacred and popular music for their performance at St. Aiden’s Church, St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, New Jersey, they enthralled audiences with favorite Madrigal arrangements. At their St. Ignatius of Loyola Church in New York City performance, the group popularly known as the MADZ, exhibited their unique vocal technique and polished performances for a program of predominantly sacred music.
Their sacred music repertoire featured both new and old works, some composed and arranged specifically for the Madrigal Singers and also some American spiritual pieces.
The MADZ likewise had a special performance at the United Nations ECOSOC Chamber at United Nations Headquarters in New York City on October 10. Performing before a select audience of diplomats, United Nations personnel and other officials, the MADZ showed why they are renowned the world over as global Ambassadors for culture, music, and piece.
Current Madrigal Conductor and Musical Director Mark Anthony Carpio thanked the US audience for the warm and eager reception accorded the Madrigal Singers and spoke about their commitment to continuing the group’s musical legacy.
Prior to their US Northeast performances, the Madrigal Singers had a breakfast reception hosted by Consul General Theresa Dizon-De Vega and the Philippine Consulate General in New York and held rehearsal sessions at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center.
The Philippine Madrigal Singers performed in the US West Coast, Mid-West and Northeast Regions for their 2017 US Tour. END
