30 October 2017 GUAM — Philippine Consul General to Guam Marciano R. de Borja visited University of Guam-Micronesia Area Research Center (UOG-MARC) in Mangilao, Guam on October 24.
During the call on UOG-MARC’s interim director Dr. Monique Storie, Consul General de Borja expressed his interest for the Philippine Consulate to work with UOG-MARC in putting together an international conference in 2018 in commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the Spanish-American war. Consul General de Borja, who has written a book about the influential role of the Basques in the creation and maintenance of Spain’s colonial establishment in the Philippines, will be one of the speakers at the planned conference.
