25 October 2017 YANGON – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon in cooperation with the Embassies of other ASEAN Member States in Yangon and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar officially launched the ASEAN Photo Exhibit at Myanmar Plaza on October 25.

The ASEAN Photo Exhibit features a series of photos highlighting the diverse communities in the region, colorful ecosystems, and most importantly, the journey of ASEAN from its institution in 1967 to its development as one of the most dynamic regions in the world today. It serves as a window to the history and diversity of the ASEAN community; a reflection of the aspiration of One Vision, One Identity and One Community; and a reaffirmation of commitment to strengthen the role of culture and the arts to promote ASEAN identity.

During his opening remarks, Ambassador Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr. cited the ASEAN support to Myanmar’s humanitarian relief programme when the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance turned over relief items to the Relief and Resettlement Department for the affected communities in Rakhine State on 14 October 2017 as a shining example of ASEAN cooperation in Myanmar.

Ambassador Kapunan also commended the efforts of the ASEAN Working Group for organizing the photo exhibit, a commemorative event to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the ASEAN. The exhibit ran from October 24 to 26. END
