PHL Ambassador to Iran Presents Credentials to President Hassan Rouhani

30 October 2017 TEHRAN – Philippine Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Wilfredo C. Santos presented his credentials on October 28, before President Hassan Rouhani at the Presidential Palace in Tehran.

During the courtesy call that followed the ceremony, President Rouhani emphasized the importance of strengthening the relations between the Philippines and Iran, particularly in the areas of trade and commerce and noted the critical role that the private sectors of both countries can contribute to this effort.

For his part, Ambassador Santos conveyed the best wishes of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to President Rouhani and to the Iranian people and reiterated his goal of working for more bilateral exchanges between the Philippines and Iran in the areas of trade, investment and tourism.

The Philippines and Iran established diplomatic relations on January 22, 1964. Since then, the two countries have signed numerous bilateral agreements in various areas of cooperation. Ambassador Santos is the tenth (10th) Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to the Islamic Republic of Iran. END
