PH Consul General Meets US Congressman Costello

03 November 2017 NEW YORK - Consul General Ma. Theresa B. Dizon-de Vega met with US Congressman Ryan Costello of the Sixth Congressional District of Pennsylvania at the Congressman's District Office in West Chester on October 23.
The Consul General thanked Congressman Costello for Congress’ support for the passage of the Filipino Veterans of World War II Congressional Gold Medal Act which was signed into law last year in honor of Filipino veterans of World War II for their service and sacrifice during the war. Congressman Costello is a supporter of Veterans issues.
The Consul General and Congressman Costello discussed the overall bilateral relations between the Philippines and the United States and as well as issues concerning the Filipino-American community in his district like health, immigration, and education. The Consul General likewise informed the Congressman of efforts to encourage increased engagement of Filipino-Americans in policy-making platforms.
The Consul General also invited Congressman Costello to join the Philippine-US Friendship Caucus in the US Congress and the Congressman relayed that his office will consider this at the earliest opportunity.
Also present during the meeting were the Consulate’s Political Officer Consul Arman R. Talbo, Dr. Aida Rivera and Mr. Chris Rivera of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA), and Ms. Jeanilyn Ficara of the Kapitbahay Filipino American Association, Inc. based in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
