03 November NEW YORK -  Consul General Ma. Theresa B. Dizon-de Vega met with US Congressman Dwight Evans of the 2nd Congressional District of Pennsylvania at the Congressman's District Office in Philadelphia on October 27

Consul General Dizon-de Vega and Congressman Evans discussed the overall bilateral relations between the Philippines and the United States, as well as issues concerning the Filipino-American community in his district like immigration and healthcare.

The Consul General briefed the Congressman on the recent liberation of Marawi as well as the positive economic developments in the Philippines and the innovations in the educational system with the implementation of the K+12 program.

Congressman Evans acknowledged the contributions of Fil-Ams in the US and in particular praised those working in the medical field, saying that the Philippines "have some of the best in the world." He said that Fil-Ams are very valuable assets in their communities.  He likewise thanked the Philippines for its deep ties and partnership with the US.

Consul General de Vega invited Congressman Evans to join the Philippine-US Friendship Caucus in the US Congress and the Congressman replied that his office will consider this at the earliest opportunity.

Also present during the meeting were the Consulate’s Political Officer Consul Arman R. Talbo and Mr. Eric Hardaway, Director of Constituent Services of the office Congressman Evans. END
