Philippines Elected as Vice President of the 39th Session of the UNESCO General Conference

07 November 2017 PARIS — The Philippines has been elected as one of the Vice-Presidents of the 39th Session of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) General Conference currently taking place in Paris, France.
As Vice-President, Philippine Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO Maria Theresa P. Lazaro, was requested by the President of the Conference, Moroccan Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO Zohour Alaoui, to chair a segment of the General Policy Debate.
The Philippines also serves as Vice Chair of two commissions of the General Conference: the APX Commission and the CLT Commission.
The APX Commission will address matters relating to budget, finance, administration and human resource management of the Organization, and also on programme support and external relations while the CLT Commission will address matters relating to UNESCO programs on culture. END
