27 November 2013 – Philippine Consul General Julius D. Torres attended the ceremony “Honoring the Contributions of Filipino Veterans in World War II” at the USS Arizona Monument at Pearl Harbor on November 17.

The event was organized by the National Park Service and was attended by some 100 Filipino and American World War II veterans and their respective families and friends.

The Consul General together with Mr. Ben Acohido, 1st Filipino Infantry Regiment, US Army; Domingo Los Baños, 1st and 2nd Infantry Regiments, US Army; Ms. Salome Caldron, Cover Military Intelligence; Mr. Art Caleda, Organized Guerillas and Domingo Garcia, Philippine Scouts offered a wreath and floral leis during the event.

Prior to the wreathlaying, a film was shown at the Visitors Center featuring the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. After the event, the families of the veterans offered sumptuous Filipino desserts to the guests.  END
