27 November 2013 – Philippine Consul General Julius D. Torres graced the Samahang Ilokano USA International Grand Reunion and Coronation as the event’s Guest of Honor and speaker.

The event was held on November 17 at the Coral Ballroom, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Samahang Ilokano USA International, under the leadership of Mr. Romeo Garcia, is an organization which provides assistance to the Filipino community in Hawaii and gives scholarships to deserving students from the Ilocos region.

During the event, Mr. Garcia also pledged assistance to the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

The event was attended by around 350 guests including Mayor Kirk Caldwell of the City and County of Honolulu, Mayor Felix Aguinaldo of Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Vice Mayor Thomas Torralba of Badoc, Ilocos Norte and other officers and members of other Filipino-American organizations in Hawaii. END
