Consul General Jamoralin Hosts Visiting PH Judges

16 November 2017 HONOLULU — Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin hosted 3 visiting judges from the Philippines at the Pacific Club last November 07. The judges were in Honolulu as part of their U.S. Judicial Exposure Programme, under the sponsorship of the Consuelo Zobel Alger Foundation.

The judges were: Amy Alabado Avellano, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 58, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, Angelene Mary W. Quimpo-Sale, Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 106, Quezon City, and Joselito D.J. Vibandor, Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 199, Las Pinas City. They were accompanied by Attorney Mia Andal-Castro, Managing Director, Consuelo Foundation, Nicanor O. Torre, Director for Programs, Consuelo Foundation, Philippine Programs, and Dr. Paula T. Morelli, Molokai Child Abuse Prevention Pathway, Consuelo Foundation, Hawaii, and Jonathan San Vuong, Acting President and CEO, Consuelo Foundation.

Consuelo Foundation is a 501c3 foundation headquartered in Hawaii, with a branch in the Philippines. Its mission is the prevention and treatment of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

One of Consuelo Foundation’s endeavors in the Philippines is providing support to government institutions that play a role in assisting survivors of abuse. It has a partnership with the Philippine Judicial Academy, a body under the Supreme Court of the Philippines which is the training institute that covers all courts.

Through its partnership, Consuelo brought the three exemplary family court judges to Hawaii to broaden their knowledge and perspectives on best practices in handling cases involving children and youth.

From Hawaii, the three judges will travel to Illinois and Minnesota. END
