PHL Consulate General in Honolulu Hosts Cacao Industry Development Association of Mindanao

17 November 2017 HONOLULU — The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu hosted a dinner for members of the Cacao Industry Development Association of Mindanao (CIDAMI) at the PCG lanai last November 6.
CIDAMI members conducted a benchmarking trip to Hawaii in order to gauge the market for Philippine cacao products in Hawaii and to exchange information on best practices by cacao producers and chocolate manufacturers in Hawaii.
CIDAMI is a non-stock, non-profit organization based in Davao City. It is composed of cacao farmers, nursery operators, cooperatives, traders/ exporters, processors, input providers and the academe. CIDAMI serves as a link between private and government, NGO and cocoa stakeholders across Mindanao to facilitate the rapid development of the Philippine cocoa industry.
CIDAMI’s goal is to produce 100,000 metric tons of dried fermented cacao beans by year 2020.
During the PCG-hosted dinner, CIDAMI members brought samples of cacao products for tasting and cooking. END
