Filipino Au Pairs Participate in Orientation Seminar at the Philippine Embassy in Oslo
Ms Ingvild Mangerud of UDI presents Norway’s Au Pair Program
20 November 2017 OSLO — Nearly 50 Filipino Au Pairs attended the Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar hosted by the Philippine Embassy in Oslo, Norway last November 11.
The Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar was aimed at continuing the Philippine Government’s measures in promoting the welfare of Filipino Au Pairs. With speakers and panelists from the Embassy, the Norwegian Directorate for Immigration (UDI), Caritas Au Pair Center in Oslo, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and Vi§Vé Advokater AS, a law firm, the seminar provided information for Filipino Au Pairs that would ease their adjustment and contribute towards a successful stay in Norway.
The mostly young women Au Pairs enthusiastically engaged the speakers and panelists in an honest, friendly, positive, and constructive dialogue on a host of issues such as contract of engagement, host family, rights and obligation, language learning, cultural activities and, legal and medical services. Also in attendance were members of the Filipino community (FilCom), some of whom shared their own experiences on living in Norway. Continuing the interaction during the lunch, and to facilitate the one-on-one consultations between an Au Pair, and speakers and panelists from Norwegian institutions, some FilCom members volunteered as translators.
Ms. Algabre, Chargé ď Affaires, a.i., of the Philippine Embassy in Oslo thanks speakers and panelists; Marit Viki of Vi§Vé Advokater; Homa Hasan of IOM; Anne Nogva, Caritas Au Pair Center – Oslo; and Ingvild Mangerud of UDI
