20 November 2017 ABU DHABI – The Office of the Undersecretary for Special Concerns and Chairperson of the Department of Agriculture – Halal Food Industry Development Program Executive Committee (DA-HFIDEC), in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Ladies Circle (PLC) – Abu Dhabi, hosted a successful Philippine Halal Product Launching and showcase of Filipino cuisine in the United Arab Emirates at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on November 06.

His Excellency Constancio R. Vingno, Jr., Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, together with the Honorable Atty. Ranibai D. Dilangalen, Undersecretary for Special Concerns and Chairperson of the DA-HFIDEC; and Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno, Chair of PLC-Abu Dhabi welcomed His Excellency Abdullah Abdulqader Al Maeeni, Director General of the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (also known as ESMA) as Guest of Honor to the first ever Philippine halal product launch in the UAE.

The event showcased Philippines’ top-quality and halal-certified products including fresh fruits, dried fruits, desiccated coconut and other coconut products, kapeng barako, local peanut brands, sun-dried fish products, processed food, wellness products, as well as the visually delightful and gustatory serving of Filipino cuisine namely, ensaladang talong and damong dagat will grilled tuna, duck arrozcaldo, sinigang na salmon, chicken adobo sa gata, butter shrimp, Crispy Bone Marrows Kare-Kare and Mango Float.

The event also served as a gateway for trade opportunities between the Philippine and the United Arab Emirates, allowing the formation of strategic partnerships with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCaE), ESMA, The International Halal Accreditation Forum (IHAF), and other major trading companies in the UAE.

The Philippine Halal launch was attended by the Honorable Datu HJ Abul Khayr D. Alonto, Secretary of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), heads of missions and members of the diplomatic corps, government representatives, delegation to the Philippine Outbound Business Matching Mission, business executives, media representatives, and other distinguished guests.
