Municipal officials brief the Philippine business delegation on the control and safety measures for food and beverage undertaken by the Muscat Municipality to ensure the health and safety of consumers

20 November 2017 MUSCAT — After the courtesy call on the Ambassador, the Philippine business delegation met with key officials of the Muscat Municipality last November 08.

Aside from a warm welcome at the Municipal Council Hall, the municipal officials provided a series of briefings, with slide presentations, explaining the functions of the different units involved in food control and safety. The officials included Mr. Qais bin Suleiman Al Kishri, Director General of Health Affairs; Mr. Abdulhameed A.M. Alojaily, Assistant General Director of Health Affairs; Mr. Issa Khalfan Al-Riyami, Assistant Director of Food Control; Dr. Shauqi A. Al Zadjali, Director of Slaughterhouses; and Mr. Suhrab bin Ali Al Farsi, Assistant Director of the Central Laboratory.

The Philippine business delegation interact with Muscat Municipality officials.

Afterwards, the officials answered questions from the Philippine delegation regarding requirements for food packaging labels, expiration dates and halal certification. Due to the interest of the delegation in related topics, the officials recommended that the delegation send all their queries to the Philippine Embassy in Oman, for the latter to transmit these through official channels, as inputs will have to be taken from many other government units.
