21 November 2017 ISTANBUL — A team from the Philippine Embassy in Ankara conducted a consular mission and held a parol-making workshop in Istanbul, Turkey on October 28 to 30.

The team provided consular services to nearly 300 Filipinos. The team processed 64 e-passport applications and 12 extensions, 14 SPA/acknowledgements, 9 reports of birth, 4 reports of marriage, 2 LCCMs and 1 ATN request. Post received 82 applications for Embassy ID registrations of Filipinos in Turkey and released 59 e-passports and 59 Embassy IDs. The team also addressed various inquiries.

The team also held a parol-making workshop along with the consular mission. The workshop is the fourth conducted by the Embassy since the activity was started in 2014. The parol-making workshop is a lead-up to the Embassy’s annual Parol Festival to be held later in the year. The workshop aims to highlight the parol tradition in the Philippines, showcase Philippine culture and creativity, encourage future exports of parols to Turkey or foreign investments to creative industries in the Philippines and encourage travel to the Philippines by Turkish tourists during festivals and fiestas.

A video on making parols was shown and participants fashioned parols of various colors and designs that highlight Philippine ingenuity and craftsmanship. Filipino community leaders, members, students and children participated in the event. END
