PHL Consul General in Dubai Leads ConGen’s Cup Mountain Bike XC Race 2017

22 November 2017 DUBAI – Philippine Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes led 1st ConGen’s Cup Mountain Bike XC Race 2017 at the Dubai District One Cycling Track in Dubai on November 03. Some 350 participants took part of the race, the first ever race organized by a Consular mission in Dubai.
Officials of the Dubai Sports Council commended the Consulate, the League of Filipino Gentlemen in Dubai, and the UAE Mountain Biking Jumeirah for the event as it in line with Sheik Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum’s, son of HRH Sheik Mohammad, Ruler of Dubai and UAE VP and Prime Minister, Dubai 30 x 30 Sports Challenge. Sheik Hamdan declared a 30-day challenge to all UAE residents, from October 20 to November 18, to be more physically active, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The Consulate organizes the ConGen’s Cup with the Filipino Community featuring different sports such as basketball, bowling, billiards, chess, darts, badminton, and table tennis. It is the Consulate’s bridge to the Filipino sporting community. END
