PHL Consulate General in Xiamen Commemorates Cebu-Xiamen Friendship Day with Launching of Photo Exhibit and Food Festival in Cebu City

24 November 2017 CEBU — The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen successfully launched the photo exhibit on the “Beauty of Fujian” and the Fujian Food Festival in commemoration of the Cebu-Xiamen Friendship Day, both held at the Golden Prince Hotel and Suites in Cebu City on October 26.
Both activities ran from October 26 to 29, which are the Consulate General’s initiatives to promote Fujian to the Philippines and thereby contribute to the nurturing of relations between the Philippines and Fujian Province.
The photo exhibit showcased the impressions of different locations in Fujian province documented by “Foto-Grupo,” a group of Filipino photo hobbyists based in Fujian organized by the Consulate General.
The Food Festival showcased an array of authentic Fujian culinary favorites which also demonstrate Fujian influences in contemporary Filipino cuisine. Two chefs as well as authentic ingredients were especially flown in from Xiamen in partnership with Linjia Minnan Food & Beverage Management Co. Ltd.
VIP guests from both the government and private sectors as well as from the Chinese Consulate General in Cebu graced the event led by City Councilor Margarita Osmeña, wife of Mayor Tomas R. Osmeña, who represented the City of Cebu and Mr. Benedict Que, President and Chairman of the Golden Prince Hotel & Suites.
Other VIP guests include Chinese Consul Cai Wen and Vice Consul Pan Xiang, both from the Chinese Consulate General in Cebu’s Economic & Commercial Section and officials and members of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by its President, Ms. Melanie Ng. END
