PHL Consulate General in Dubai Presents First Batch of Financial Literacy Task Force Graduates
04 December 2017 DUBAI – The Philippine Consulate General conducted the final module of its four-module and year-long program on financial literacy last November 24. Fifty-four students participated in the program since its inception in February this year.
In November 2016, the Consulate created the Financial Literacy Task Force, putting together experts from various fields (i.e., banking sector, insurance, remittance center, and financial management organizations, real estate companies, professionals) to draw up modules of learning that are appropriate to the needs and requirements of Filipinos in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
The Task Force came up with a one year program divided into 4 modules and conducted every quarter. The 4 modules included discussions on (1) savings and budgeting; (2) debt management; (3) investment and insurance; and (4) entrepreneurship and reintegration.
With the creation of the Task Force, the Consulate hopes to create a new base of Filipino entrepreneurs who understand not only what it takes to be financially savvy and literate but to likewise be innovators and business leaders in the global economy. END
