PHL Ambassador Honors Hero OFW in Jeddah

04 December 2017 JEDDAH — Ambassador Adnan Alonto commended Saripada Balindong Daud, a Filipino worker who saved a disabled Arab who was trapped inside his car during the floods that engulfed Jeddah.

In a simple ceremony held in Jeddah on November 27, Daud was awarded a certificate of commendation for his act of heroism which “brought greater honor to Filipinos and the Philippines.”

On November 21, a polio -stricken elderly man was stranded in his car in the middle of rushing rainwater, while a large crowd including two Civil Defense staff simply stood watching. Daud, unmindful of his own personal welfare, waded through the flood and pulled the elderly man to safety.

Daud's act of heroism was videotaped and quickly went viral on social media. END
