Free Legal Aid Program Renders to the Filipino Community in France

07 December 2017 PARIS – In partnership with the Philippine Embassy in Paris, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) rendered legal services, provided counsel on various issues and conducted lectures about Philippine laws to over 70 members of the Filipino community in France from November 25 to 29 at the Chancery
Led by IBP National Director for Legal Aid, Attorney Minerva M. B. Ambrosio, the IBP team gave one-on-one pro-bono consultations to Filipinos on their family and civil status, inheritance, land and property rights, and dual citizenship, among others. Members of the Filipino community who live in the outskirts of Paris availed of the legal advice through Skype video calls. Similarly, lectures on annulment, recognition of foreign judgment, and property issues are available for public viewing through the Embassy’s Facebook page.
This is the first legal aid program organized under the leadership of Philippine Ambassador to France, H.E. Ma. Theresa Lazaro.
Practicing lawyers in the Philippines are mandated to render free legal aid services in all cases (whether, civil, criminal or administrative) involving indigent and pauper litigants in accordance with the Rule on Mandatory Legal Aid Service issued by the Supreme Court of the Philippines. END
