08 December 2017 KUNMING — The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing organized a consular outreach mission and Christmas party for the members of the Filipino Community in Yunnan Province in Kunming on November 18.
The following services were rendered during the consular outreach mission: 6 consular registration IDs issued; 4 Tax Exemption Certificates issued; 2 Acknowledgments issued; 2 Overseas Absentee Voting registrations; 6 passports released; and One-on-one consular consultations.
At the Christmas party that followed, Consul General Palala’s Christmas message focused mainly on her personal gratitude for all the support, cooperation and friendship given by the members of the Filipino community in Kunming during her three years’ posting as Philippine Consul General in Chongqing, Yunnan Province and Guizhou Province.
The Filipino community presented the Consul General and Consul Duke Villanueva with a Certificate of Appreciation, it being the last Christmas in Kunming for both of them. In turn, Consul General Palala presented a prominent Filipino community member, Mr. Byrone Ng, General Manager of the Kunming Liwayway Food Industry Ltd., with a Certificate of Appreciation, primarily “for his efforts at promoting Philippine products among the local populations of Kunming and nearby cities, particularly the Oishi brand of snack foods, thus helping the Philippine Government bring to Chinese consciousness the high quality of Philippine food.”
After dinner which featured mainly Chinese cuisine, group singing of Christmas songs, exchange of gifts and children’s games that were facilitated by a Filipino teacher, Mr. Gabriel Santos, further enlivened the party. A karaoke-singing competition also proved to be a major highlight of the Christmas party.
Mr. Junfred Jurado, a Filipino teacher at the Kunming No. 1 High School for International Education, won the top prize of RMB 1,000 (Php 7,000.00) and a trophy donated by the Consulate as the “2017 Filipino Golden Voice of Kunming.” It was a night as memorable as the Consul General’s three year posting in China.
