PHL Consulate General in Dubai Launches ASEAN Lecture Series for Filipino Students in Dubai and Northern Emirates

08 December 2017 DUBAI – Philippine Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes commenced the Consulate’s ASEAN Awareness Lecture Series for Filipino Students in Dubai and the Northern Emirates today at the Bath Spa University in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE’s northernmost emirate. The Consul General delivered a 2-hour lecture on the ASEAN Community and the Philippine priorities on its ASEAN Chairmanship to some 40 junior and senior Filipino students of Bath Spa University, one of the UK’s many universities with a satellite campus in the UAE.

A 30-minute Q&A followed the presentation.

The Consulate is embarking on an ASEAN Awareness Lecture Series as part of its vision to educate the Filipino youth in the UAE on Philippine political and economic developments, policies, laws, regulations, culture and heritage, and foreign policy. By providing the global Filipino community a clearer understanding of Philippine foreign and domestic policy, the Consulate hopes that overseas Filipinos, especially the overseas youth, would invest in greater stakeholder participation in issues that affect the country.
