ASEAN Committee in Abu Dhabi Notes 2017 Gains in Year-End Meeting

12 December 2017 ABU DHABI — ASEAN Ambassadors in the United Arab Emirates, participated in by Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Constancio R. Vingno, Jr., noted the success of 2017 ASEAN-related activities in UAE in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN, during the year-end meeting of the ASEAN Committee in Abu Dhabi (ACAD) on December 06 hosted by Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE Syed Md. Hasrin Tengku Hussin, at the Embassy of Malaysia in Reem Island, Abu Dhabi.
The activities include the ASEAN Reception held on October 23 which was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the ASEAN Bowling Tournament organized by the Philippine Embassy, and the Ambassadors’ trip to Fujairah where high-level officials of the Emirate led by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi met the ASEAN Ambassadors.
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the UAE Komate Kamalanavin, as Chair of ACAD, thanked all the members of ACAD for their support and active participation that led to the 2017 events.
He also expressed his gratitude to the ASEAN Ladies Circle led by Madame Yoko Ramos –Vingno for their significant contribution to all the programs, activities and projects of ACAD in spreading the culture and values of ASEAN across the UAE, such as the ASEAN 50th Jubilee Celebration held in Mushrif Mall, and the ASEAN Ladies Bazaar held at the Residence of the Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE.
