13 December 2017 HONG KONG — Presidential Adviser on Investments Atty. Antonio A. Cablitas recently held meetings with leading business leaders and representatives in Hong Kong to promote investment opportunities in the Philippines.
Atty. Cablitas met with Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (HKCGCC) chairman, Dr. Jonathan Choi, on December 04 to highlight President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s commitment to further enhance both Philippines-Hong Kong and Philippines-mainland China relations.
Atty. Cablitas assured Dr. Choi that he would help facilitate bilateral trade and investment relations with Hong Kong and mainland China. Dr. Choi responded by expressing his admiration for President Duterte’s commitment to build good relations with China and the rest of Asia.
Atty. Cablitas also promoted investment to the Philippines as one of the session speakers on 6 December at the SmartBiz Expo organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).
In particular, he encouraged Hong Kong and international businessmen to invest in the Philippines, given the country’s high GDP growth, young and well-educated population, and the Philippine government’s initiatives to increase infrastructure development under the auspices of the current administration’s “Build, Build, Build.”
On December 07, Atty. Cablitas met with HKTDC officials led by Ms. Winsome Chan, Senior Manager for Belt and Road & External Relations. He noted that the Philippine government is making great strides in facilitating investments to the country, including looking at regulations to further expand business opportunities in tourism, and banking and finance.
