Filipino Community in Athens Celebrates “Christmas Dinner and Ball 2017”

Consul Sheila Marie C. Tario imparts the Christmas Message of the Philippine Embassy in Athens to the Filipino Community.

13 December 2017 ATHENS — The Filipino community in Athens celebrated a “Christmas Dinner and Ball 2017” at the President Hotel in Athens on December 10. The event was organized by the Filipino community leaders in Athens led by the Accredited Community Partners (ACP) Organization.

During the program, the Filipino community leaders led everyone in the room by singing “Christmas in Our Hearts.” Other activities during the evening included dance numbers, song numbers, and games. Christmas messages were delivered by Ms. Roselily A. Villanueva, OWWA-Athens Administrative Assistant, and Ms. Carolina B. Baul, POLO Officer-in-Charge. Consul Sheila Marie C. Tario also delivered her Christmas message as the guest speaker of the event.

In addressing the attendees, Consul Tario stated that this time of the year is an opportunity to look back and be thankful for the blessings of the previous year. For the Philippines, in particular, the Consul mentioned that the Filipino nation is thankful this year that the fighting in Marawi has come to an end and that the city has finally been liberated.

The Consul congratulated the ACP for a fruitful year as they have successfully organized not just the annual Filipino Community Independence Day celebration, but also the very first Filipino Food Festival in Athens. On behalf of the Philippine Embassy in Athens, Consul Tario expressed her appreciation to the Filipino community for the invaluable support and cooperation they have given to the Embassy. END
