29 November 2013 - Dr. Esther Gondosio Muia, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Laos, visited the Philippine Embassy in Vientiane on November 25 to sign the condolence book for Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) victims and hand over the donations coming from the staff of UNFPA Laos.
Dr. Muia said that the staff felt strongly about doing their personal share for the benefit of the victims of typhoon Yolanda and their families on top of the assistance being extended by the United Nations system, including the UNFPA. She noted that she had released one of her officers to temporarily assist in the relief and rehabilitation operations in Manila. She added that the contributions of the staff were not much but had come from the heart.
Philippine Ambassador to Laos Maria Lumen B. Isleta expressed her heartfelt thanks to Dr. Muia and her staff and noted that every gesture and expression of sympathy and solidarity with the typhoon victims is deeply appreciated. END
