 TESDA Director-General Visits Brunei, Meets with Minister of Education

19 December 2017 BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN — Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director-General, Secretary Guiling A. Mamondiong, visited Brunei Darussalam on December 12-14 to meet with his counterpart and gather further inputs on the PHL’s proposed initiative in creating the ASEAN TVET Development Council.

During his meeting with Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education of Brunei Darussalam, Secretary Mamondiong underscored that the PHL’s initiative aims to facilitate and further intensify regional convergence among ASEAN Member States (AMS) in advancing technical vocational education and training (TVET) and skills development towards an improved productivity, employability, and competitiveness of the regional workforce.

The TESDA delegation, which include Ms. Rosanna A. Urdaneta, Deputy Director-General for Policies and Planning; Ms. Marissa G. Legaspi, Executive Director, Planning Office; and Ms. Charlyn B. Justimbaste, OIC-Chief, Project Development Division, Planning Office, also met with Dr. Chin Wei Keh, Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and other IBTE officials.

Prior to their meetings, the delegation called on PHL Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Meynardo LB. Montealegre, who hosted a high-tea for the group at his official residence.

The PHL Embassy strongly supports visiting PHL government agencies which promote PHL advocacies and initiatives in support of the ASEAN Community pillars. END
