Regional Training on Overseas Voters Registration Conducted in Honolulu

19 December 2017 HONOLULU — The “On-Site Regional Training on the Amendments to COMELEC Resolution No. 10167; the reboot of iREHISTRO; and Data Privacy Policy for Overseas Voting” was conducted from December 06 to 08 in Honolulu, hosted by Philippine Consulate General Honolulu, in cooperation with the Philippine Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and the Department of Foreign Affairs-Overseas Voting Secretariat (DFA-OVS) at the Double Tree by Hilton Alana Hotel in Waikiki.
The COMELEC delegation was led by Commissioner Luie Tito L. Guia, while the DFA-OVS delegation was led by Mr. Edgardo O. Castro, Acting Vice-Chairman of the OVS. Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin hosted the training venue.
More than 30 delegates from the Americas came together for the training, with participants coming from the United States (New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Guam and Hawaii), Canberra, Australia, Santiago, Chile, Canada (Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver), Mexico City, Brasilia, and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The training consisted of Amendments to Resolution No. 10167 otherwise known as the Rules and Regulations on the Conduct of the Continuing Registration for Overseas Voting for Purposes of the May 13, 2019 National Elections in the Philippines, Flow of the Overseas Voting Process, Amendment of Forms, Data Privacy, Disposal of Records, and a Hands-On Training on the technical aspects of overseas registration, file transfer and ensuring the security of the registration process
On December 07, the Philippine Consulate General organized a Media Forum for COMELEC and DFA-OVS officials, media representatives and training participants.
Despite the hectic training schedule, the delegates were still able to sample Hawaiian hospitality via the Welcome Dinner hosted by Consul General Jamoralin and the tours around Honolulu after training hours. END
