PHL Ambassador Promotes Healthcare Information Management Industry of Philippines at Digital Health Summit in France

PHL Ambassador Ma. Theresa Lazaro presents the Philippines as a leading healthcare information management service delivery location at the Health and Tech for People international conference in Paris, France.

20 December 2017 PARIS — Philippine Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa Lazaro joined global healthcare professionals, practitioners, policy-makers, health industry leaders and the academe at the “Health and Tech for People” international conference whose theme this year is “digital disruption in the field of health” in Paris, France.

This is the first edition of such conference organized by Digital Leaders in Health, an independent and not-for-profit thinktank, and Care Insight, a consulting firm in strategy and communication for actors in health innovation.

The Ambassador spoke in one of the conference workshops where she delivered a presentation on the healthcare information management industry of the Philippines.

In her presentation, the Ambassador showed how the Philippines was one of the leading healthcare information management service delivery destinations in the world, bringing in revenues of USD 2.4 billion in 2016 and employing more than 100,000 professionals.

The Ambassador also shared the story of the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP) from its early beginnings in 2003 when it was still known as the Medical Transcription Industry Association of the Philippines, to its present-day challenge of moving from voice and non-voice services to services involving IT, analytics and robotics process augmentation.

The Ambassador was joined by other notable speakers in the workshop, such as Professor Christoph Meinel, CEO of the Hasso-Plattner Institute in Germany, known as being the co-founder of software giant SAP; and Ms. Sarah Peigné, International Sales Director of ACETIAM, a leading French telemedicine firm.
