29 November 2013 - The Boeing Company  expressed its concern and solidarity with the Philippines, especially with those who were affected by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in a ceremony held last November 24 at the Boeing Factory in Seattle with Philippine Consul General Marciano A. Paynor, Jr. as Guest Speaker.

The event, which was made possible by Boeing’s Sales and Marketing Director for Asia Pacific Dan Schull, commenced with a tour of the Boeing factory and lunch with Captain Alfonso Rodriguez and other representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).  It culminated with a short program featuring the blessing of the Boeing plane and the donation from World Vision.

The Boeing plane, which flew under Philippine Airlines flight PR 772, shipped to the Philippines 3,000 pieces of tarps and rope donated by World Vision to help in the relief and rebuilding efforts in the areas hardest hit by typhoon Yolanda.

In his remarks, the Consul General expressed his appreciation first of all to the Boeing Company for their generous contribution of $250,000.00, and to the Boeing Employees Association which has so far raised $460,000.00. The donation period is still ongoing and will be closing on December 12.

The Consul General also thanked World Vision for their donation of tarps and ropes, and Philippine Airlines for ferrying these contributions to the Philippines, which totaled nine pallets of shipment, equaling to about a ton in weight.

Mr. Schull was joined by other Boeing officials: Mr. Jaime Macandog, Lead Account Manager;  Mr. Wilson Chow, Communications Officer; and Mr. Wes Bare, Executive VIP Tour Guide/Visitor Relations Specialist.

World Vision National Director Johnny Cruz and Philippine Airlines Manager Kiel Martin A. Garcia were also in attendance.  END
