Filipina Artist Sketches Philippine Envoy in London
18 December 2017 LONDON – Award-winning artist Maria Mari Murga recently presented the official portrait of Ambassador Antonio Manuel R. Lagdameo at the Philippine Embassy in London on December 12.
Murga is a Filipina-Spanish artist based in London. Her artwork feature in a large number of private collections, including well-known corporate clients. She received various awards from The Royal Society of British Artists, The de Laszlo Foundation and The Pastel Society at The Mall Galleries in London.
Murga has been the Embassy’s official portraitist, having painted the portraits of former ambassadors Enrique A. Manalo, currently Undersecretary for Policy of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Evan P. Garcia, currently Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations in Geneva. These portraits are currently displayed at the Embassy’s Receiving Room at No. 8 Suffolk Street, London.
