US Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Officials Visit PHL Consulate General

18 December 2017 HONOLULU — Kelly K. McKeague, Director of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, US Department Defense visited the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu and was received by Consul General Gina Jamoralin. Director McKeague was accompanied by his Deputy Director, Rear Admiral Jon C. Kreitz, US Navy and CDR Jeff Fisher, US Navy, International Engagement Officer on December 12.

The US Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency is in charged of searching, documenting and accounting for the remains of missing US servicemen who fought and died overseas. In partnership with the Philippine government and academe, it has conducted a number of research missions in the Philippines notably in the Luzon area where many of the US servicemen and Filipino soldiers died during the infamous Bataan “Death March” in World War II and where many of the POW military camps were located.   The US Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has also an existing research partnership with the University of Chicago in Illinois.
